In addition to GP consultations the practice offers a wide range of clinics and healthcare services:
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to complete one of our Travel Vaccination forms either online via this website or obtain a form from Reception. Our Practice Nurse will then go through your form and determine if/what you require for your visit. Our Nurse will contact you to advise you and if an appointment is required our Nurse will deal with this for you.
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below
It is important to let the surgery know as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - Some vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine, and you may need your vaccination at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work, so good notice helps us and you.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
Travel Health Questionnaire
To help us offer the appropriate advice, please fill out the online form before coming to see the nurse.

Not all the Medical Examinations, reports and certificates done by your GP are free under the NHS.
If you GP Surgery is busy they may have to refuse to perform the private medical you are requesting. Please phone our Administrative Department for the details of our fees.
If you are unsure whether a service attracts a fee please phone for details beforehand - this will prevent any unpleasant conversations about payment of the fee required, which is usally paid in advance.
Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:
The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.

The CCG have agreed to implement restrictions to a number of clinical services. Of course, nobody within the CCG wants to make these restrictions but are having to do so in light of extremely challenging financial circumstances.
The CCG is restricting the prescribing of gluten free foods to young people, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers and stopping prescribing these products altogether to all other adults. These products are now available in shops and there is a variety of alternatives widely available. Please see more details under further information, point 1.
There are certain groups of patients that would still be able to access IVF:
Those individuals and couples who commenced IVF prior to the implementation date (to be agreed) will have their care continued as advised at the start of their course of treatment.
Fertility preservation will be offered to patients undergoing cancer treatments or who have a disease or a condition requiring medical or surgical treatment that has a significant likelihood of making them infertile.
Couples who meet current eligibility criteria in which the male partner has a chronic viral infection where there is high risk of viral transmission to the female partner and potentially any unborn child (such as HIV or Hepatitis C), would also be offered ICSI.
Couples experiencing difficulties in conceiving could still seek medical advice through their GP in the first instance.
Treshold for elective procedures
All patients being referred for non-urgent elective surgery and who are smokers should be referred to smoking cessation services at the initial referral/assessment/appointment. Overweight and obese patients should be strongly encouraged to lose weight before their operation. Failure to attend smoking cessation or weight loss programmes may have an impact on whether individuals can undergo their procedure.
Vasectomy and female sterilisation
The community vasectomy and female sterilisation services are considered as one of many forms of contraception and are deemed to have no or limited clinical value. Anyone who wishes to go forward with a private self referral for a vasectomy can contact The Tollgate Clinic on 01206 216990 or contac M Rix's secretary on 01206 753248 at The Oaks.
